As early as the end of the 18th century the name Hostašovice has been inseparably connected with growing of buckwheat and with its processing into buckwheat groats. Buckwheat has been ground here up to the present; even people from the remoter surroundings come to buy it here.

Also the treasure of silver coins is very interesting. In 1981 a coin treasure in two ceramic vessels was found at the plot belonging to the house No. 182 during an excavation of a hole for lime. The treasure contained altogether 336 pieces of various silver coins dating back to the end of the 17th century and today it is stored in the Silesian museum.
